High-Quality Teen Travel- Providing The Best Summer Program Experience
Traveling around the world will always be something special for teens, particularly given the scope it gives them to have transformative experiences and grow as young people. But that doesn’t necessarily mean ‘just any’ teen travel program will suffice for your child! If you are looking to enroll your teen on such a program, you will want to be sure that they will have a high-quality, safe, and life-transforming experience they will never forget.
With all that in mind, what are some of the things that help make trips with RLT so distinctive? Below, we have set out some of the strengths of The Road Less Traveled summer program.
Our small groups and low student-to-leader ratios
By limiting our traveling groups to between 8 and 14 participants here at RLT, we help to ensure every young person who joins us receives the individual care and attention that will enable them to get the best out of their experience with us. We get to know each student on the program, so we can support them however they need, and help them thrive on their trip.
This policy is reflected in our student-to-leader ratio, which never goes higher than 8:1, and is more commonly around 6:1. The ratio can sometimes be as low as 2:1 while working with expert guides.
Although the exact group size will depend on such factors as the goals of the given program and the size of the community where participants will be doing service work, our practice of trying to keep group sizes small helps prioritize a high quality participant experience.
The passion, skill, and experience of our leaders
Another standout aspect of The Road Less Traveled summer program is our commitment to giving the teens who travel with us the benefit of the most inspirational leaders. To put it simply, our trip leaders are some of the best in the industry!
Our program leaders undergo intensive recruitment and training to help ensure they are highly effective in their roles. They add a huge amount of value to the program experience and build relationships with the students that help each teen grow in themselves. They are Wilderness First Responder certified, background checked, driver training checked, mental health first aid trained and so much more! But much more than that, they are also highly passionate and committed people with strong personal values, including integrity, honesty, respect for the environment, and compassion.
Combined with our own 33 years’ experience as a company going back to 1991, our leaders will help ensure your teen returns from their time away with a life changing experience.
Our dedication to supporting a childhood-long learning journey – from 6th grade to 12th grade
You might have noticed from looking through our range of summer travel programs online, that we gear our trips to different age groups. This is reflective of our commitment to aiding young persons’ personal growth over an extended period of time, whether they embark on a Road Less Traveled summer program for the first time in 6th grade, 12th grade, or at any stage in-between.
Our track record in achieving this is shown by the fact that young people come back to participate in our program year after year! But even if your teen joins us just once, they will still be a greatly valued member of the broader RLT family.
Hopefully, this article will have helped to show you just some of the reasons our program is not ‘just another’ generic teen tour!
