Middle School Summer Programs- Adventure with The Road Less Traveled!

Summers during middle school are the perfect time for students to start having adventures independently. The period from around 11 to 13 years of age is a vital one for formative minds; it really is a time when children are like ‘sponges’, absorbing and learning so much about the world around them. So, the right travel experiences can really help with their growth, maturity, and preparations for high school.

An excellent time of life to travel, explore, and grow

Think about it: for middle schoolers, it can be easy for summer break to be wasted. As tweens and teens start to become too old for summer camp opportunities closer to home, but are still unable to drive and too young for most jobs, they might easily find themselves stuck behind a screen or just killing time hanging out at home.

Contrast this with the experience of taking on a middle school adventure program, like those we run here at The Road Less Traveled (RLT). As a sixth, seventh, or eighth grader, your child is likely to be excited by the opportunity to travel further afield, having their own adventures away from parents, and having more independence and autonomy.

And for parents, you can feel comforted knowing that while your teen is off adventuring independently, they will still have the care and supervision from our passionate and skilled trip leaders to keep them safe.

Middle school is also a chapter of a young person’s life when kids are looking for new challenges and are often fearless of trying different activities and adventures. Our summer programs provide a wide variety of adventure activities such as hiking, biking, climbing, kayaking, rafting, zipline and snorkeling, to name just a few possibilities. If your middle schooler loves adventure, our summer programs could give them the best summer experience they have ever had!
