Why settle for geography being just a classroom lesson, when you have opportunities to live and breathe it in almost all key regions of the world? Every summer The Road Less Traveled runs trips for teens across multiple continents, allowing them to experience authentic travel to a range of exciting countries.
So, for today’s blog post, we decided to put a spotlight on just some of the breathtaking locations around the globe to which young people can journey with the help of our skilled and experienced program leaders.
Teen Travel and Service Programs in North America
Students don't have to travel to the other side of the world to experience breathtaking natural surroundings. We have trips across North America that provide a range of new experiences for middle and high schoolers. A domestic trip can be a great place for students new to teen travel to start their RLT adventure.
They could explore places including Alaska, Florida, Colorado, Maine, and British Columbia. As part of these trips they could help work at animal sanctuaries, discover glaciers and ice-fields, learn to scuba dive, or kayak around the Canadian coastline. All of our domestic trips offer meaningful service opportunities as well, so students can give back as part of their summer program while gaining certified service hours.
Teen Travel and Service Programs in Asia
The vastest of vast continents, being the world’s largest by land area as well as by population, Asia has always been a source of fascination among would-be and current travelers alike. So, why not encourage your 6th to 12th grader to stop dreaming, and make it a reality?
With our current Asian trips having opportunities to discover the ancient temples of Bali, help with elephant care and conservation in Thailand, and take in jaw-dropping sights across Vietnam, Cambodia, and Laos, intrepid youngsters have plenty of choice with RLT.
Summer trips to Asia offer a unique cultural immersion experience and many students leave with a different perspective and more culturally aware.
Teen Travel and Service Programs in Europe
A visit to the “Old Continent” is surely a “must-do” for any person at least once in their life.
Our summer youth travel programs to Europe include a wide range of experiences and destinations to visit. Choose from France, Italy, Greece, Spain, Norway, Iceland, and the easily overlooked – but, once experienced, never forgotten – Portuguese island of São Miguel in the Azores. Europe is always a popular place for teen travel and it's easy to see why!
Teen Travel and Service Programs in Africa
We may be offering just the one teen travel program this year to Africa, but it is quite a remarkable one.
Taking young people to the challenging but enriching destination of Kenya, our Safari and Service trip stands for so much more than a chance to see the “Big 5” – Combining meaningful community service with adventure and cultural immersion, Africa is a place hard to forget.
Teen Travel and Service Programs in South and Central America
For years we have run teen trips to central and south America, and every year students return with lasting memories of the most welcoming people, their rich culture and heritage, and the vast landscapes from remote islands to dense jungles.
Trips to Costa Rica, Belize and the Galapagos are all available this summer and offer the opportunities for teens to have summer program like no other.
